Restorative Dentistry
Partnering with Our Patients to Restore Their Smiles
Restoration dentistry involves both the form and function of a patient's smile, serving to restore the natural look of the tooth or teeth, while also restoring their function. One or more missing teeth can have a significant impact to not only the appearance of the smile, but also to how that patient can chew or talk.
University Dental P.A., in Columbia, SC, delivers a wide range of restorative dental care services to our patients, including the placement of crowns and bridges, full and partial dentures, and more. Treatment and available options are dependent on the unique needs of our patients, which is why we invite you to call our office at 803-252-8101 to schedule your consultation today!
Crown and Bridge Restoration
At University Dental P.A., we use crowns and bridges to restore natural teeth that have been damaged, decayed or lost. Once we have examined your teeth and have evaluated your dental and medical history, we will provide a diagnosis and personalized treatment options tailored to your dental needs. A crown may be constructed to restore an individual damaged tooth back to its original form and function, while a bridge may be utilized to replace one or more teeth.
If you think you need a crown or bridge, call us today to schedule a consultation.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays are dental restorations that are typically used as alternatives to dental crowns. Inlays and onlays offer a well-fitting, durable, longer-lasting solution to tooth decay or similar damage.
Oftentimes, inlays and onlays are used in place of traditional dental fillings to treat tooth decay or similar structural damage. Whereas dental fillings are molded into place within the mouth during a dental visit, inlays and onlays are fabricated indirectly in a dental lab before being fitted and bonded to the damaged tooth by our dental staff.
The restoration is called an "inlay" when the material is bonded within the center of a tooth. On the other hand, the restoration is referred to as an "onlay" when the extent of the damage requires inclusion of one or more cusps of the tooth or full coverage of the biting surface.
